SMART Goals - Part 4

All,

Next in my little write up is R.

R stands for Responsibility, Realistic

For your goals to happen you have to become responsible for them. You have to be the one to show up and do something towards your goal. Others may and will help you achieve your goal, yet you have to show up for them to help you. Your goal will come about because of your thought, feelings, actions and behaviours. It really is that simple.

Take a step back and look at all the times you did not achieve something. No matter what the reason why you did not achieve it. Who is always present in the goal process? Who is the person working or not towards your goals. YOU!

It isn't always going to be easy to take 100% responsibility for your goals and results. Sometimes, it is just easier to blame somebody else. Yet, the common denominator is you!  Taking responsibility maybe uncomfortable. It may mean going outside your comfort zone, hearing and doing things you don't want to do. Yet I've found once I started to do the things that I feared, the fear disappeared or lessened and my goal was a step closer.

Realistic

I have a bug bare with this point. Who decides what is or is not realistic for you? Your friends and family most likely will try and tell you what they think is realistic for you in their eyes. Yet, they are also the people who will try and keep you where you are.  What maybe realistic for you today, is not going to be realistic for your tomorrow.

All I say is this, If you think you think your goal is realistic, you're thinking too small. You boundaries can change by reading about somebody who has done what you have done. Writing out 100 reasons why you want X.  Using techniques to clear limiting decision and negative emotions, as here with EFT, NLP, Hypnosis and others.
